DHAKA: All the educational institutions across the country will go into a vacation for Eid-ul-Fitr from August 14, the Education Ministry decided.
“The decision will also help reduce traffic congestions in the capital,” Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid told journalists announcing the vacation.
Except the Madrasa, all the educational institutions will remain closed till September 19, he added.
Earlier on Wednesday, the Home Ministry had proposed that all the schools, colleges and other educational institutions in the capital be shut for early vacation after the 10th of Ramadan, as a further measure for coming to grips with nagging traffic jams that may, otherwise, worsen into an impasse amid shopping binge for the biggest religious festival.
Nahid said institutions, which are taking examinations may take any alternative decision of their own.
