The government on Tuesday (August 8) decided to cancel the primary scholarship examination for fifth graders.

However, the students will get scholarships through different methods including assignments.

Education Minister Dipu Moni disclosed the information at a press briefing today.

Earlier, experts urged the government to promote and dedicate higher amounts as stipends under a new universal scholarship program after scrapping the current primary scholarship program which many say is discriminatory.
