In view of the ongoing heatwave situation across the country, the morning assembly of all government primary schools in the country will remain closed until further notice.
This was stated in a notice signed by Mahbubur Rahman Tuhin, senior information officer of the Ministry of Primary and Mass Education, today (April 20).
The notice also said: "The Ministry of Primary and Mass Education is keeping a close eye on the prevailing heat wave situation across the country. The decision has been taken considering the well-being of the students and teachers of the schools."
Schools and colleges across the country are scheduled to open tomorrow after the holy Ramadan, Independence Day and Eid-ul-Fitr holidays.
Earlier on Friday, the Bangladesh Meteorological Department issued a heat wave warning for 72 hours, stating that the ongoing heat wave is expected to continue in most parts of the country.
Due to the intensity of the heat and high humidity during this period, discomfort might increase, the notice added.
