The government has decided to reopen all primary schools from Sunday, the day also scheduled for reopening high schools and colleges, amid the ongoing heatwave.
However, the class time has been reduced from 8am to 11:30am.
The Ministry of Primary and Mass Education took the decision on Saturday considering the children's health risk in the government primary schools, primary schools run by the Child Welfare Trust, and learning centers of the non-formal education bureau.
Daily assemblies will remain suspended until the heatwave becomes tolerable, as per the direction of the Ministry.
However, pre-primary classes will remain closed until further notice.
Earlier, on 20 April, due to the ongoing heatwave conditions, the authorities concerned extended the closure of schools, colleges, madrasas, and technical education institutions across the country until 27 April.
These institutions were initially scheduled to reopen after the Eid holidays on 21 April.
