The government today (April 29) directed that all primary schools will remain closed until Thursday (May 2) amid ongoing heatwave, considering the health and safety of students across the country.
This directive applies to all government primary schools, institutions under the Child Welfare Trust, and learning centres run by the Informal Education Bureau, confirmed Mahbubur Rahman Tuhin, Senior Information Officer of the Ministry of Primary and Mass Education this information.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Education has also announced that all secondary, higher secondary and technical schools, colleges and madrassas in 25 districts will also remain closed tomorrow due to the heatwave.
Both ministries came up with the decision hours after the High Court directed the authorities concerned to keep schools and colleges closed until Thursday.
On Monday, the HC bench comprising Justice KM Kamrul Kader and Justice Khizir Hayat issued the order in a suo moto (voluntary) rule.
