JAHANGIRNAGAR UNIVERSITY: The government on Wednesday appointed Professor MA Matin as new vice-chancellor of Jahangirnagar University.

President, also chancellor of the university, M Abdul Hamid appointed him and directed him to hold a election for vice-chancellor panel by the existing senate within a month.

A press release from the education ministry made the disclosure on Wednesday.

MA Matin is a Professor of Statistics Department of the university.

On January 13, Professor Anwar Hossain resigned from the vice-chancellor post as a section of teachers staged protest demanding his quit.
