RAJSHAHI UNIVERSITY (RU): There was no electricity in Rajshahi University campus for two days after a storm that passed over the district at Thursday night.
Sufferings of at least 30,000 students and teachers know no bounds as there is not enough food and drinking water.
Educational activities are also being hampered.
At least 300 trees, including 12 large ones on the both sides of Paris Road and 18 electricity polls at the university area were uprooted in about a 30-minute storm.
Some of the residential students told banglanews that they have been suffering from the scarcity of drinking water and food.
Sabina Puthi, a resident student of Khaleda Zia Hall, told banglanews that most of the students of their hall usually cook by themselves which is not being possible now as there is no electricity.
“There is not enough food at the hall canteen also as a very few students eat there. There is not enough food at the hotels outside the campus too,” she added.
Hasan Adib from Sher-e-Bangla Hall told banglanews, “There is not enough drinking water. Supply is also not sufficient.”
University’s student adviser Professor Sadequl Arefin said that they are working hard to solve the problems.
“We have appointed extra workers to repair electric lines,” he added.
