DHAKA: As per the commitment of Prime Minster Sheikh Hasina, the government will establish an Agriculture University in Khulna.

Cabinet, in its weekly meeting on Monday morning, chaired by the premier, has approved the Khulna Agriculture University act-2014 in consideration of the vetting.  

After emerging from the meeting, Cabinet Secretary Mohammad Mosharraf Hossain told reporters that education ministry is preparing for establishing this university as per the commitment of the premier.

He said, a draft of act was submitted to the cabinet in 2011. The latest cabinet meeting approved the Act in consideration of the vetting.

The structure of the university will follow the other public universities in the country, he added.

Earlier in 2011, the PM during her Khulna visit promised to establish an agriculture university in that region.
