DHAKA UNIVERSITY: Elections to the Dhaka University (DU) syndicate, the academic council and the finance committees, are set to be held on Thursday.
The polls are scheduled to begin at 9:00am at Nabab Nawab Ali Chowdhury Senate Bhaban of the university and continue till 1:00pm at a stretch.
All preparation has been set to hold the election, said DU Treasurer, said chief election commissioner, Professor Dr Mohammad Kamal Uddin.
Awami League and leftist-supported Blue Panel (BP) and BNP-Jamaat-supported White Panel (WP) will contest the polls.
But WP’s candidates have expressed grievance as the authorities announced the date for the polls in a very sort times.
They alleged that they got less time to select the suitable candidate and run the campaign.
According to the concerning rules, date of election had been announced 15 days before the polls held, but this time it was not done, claimed several teachers of WP adding “it had created problems in candidate selection and campaign.”
The university authorities declared the date for the polls on August 19 and sent letters to the concerning offices on the matter.
