DHAKA: Students of Dhaka University theatre department confined their department chairman Dr Saiful Islam on the allegation of sexual harassment.

The department chairman went to classroom (number 6006) in Arts Faculty building around 10:30am.

Then the students came out from the classroom and locked him from outside.

Later, the university proctor AM Amzad rescued the teacher around 1:00pm.

From the written statement of a third-year female student, it was known that the teacher tried to harass her on September 13.

Following the matter a tension was prevailing on the compass.

However, the accused teacher denied the complaint and said that it was a plot against him.

A syndicate meeting will be held in this regard, Proctor AM Amzad said.
