DHAKA: The admission seekers will not be allowed to appear in the test for the second time in Dhaka University (DU).
University Vice-Chancellor (VC) Professor AAMS Arefin Siddique made the disclosure while talking to journalists after a meeting of the university’s admission committee on Tuesday.
The vice-chancellor said, “The authorities of the university will implement the decision from the academic session 2015-16.”
Professor Siddique said only the HSC students of that year will be allowed to sit for the DU admission test.
The earlier system was carrying an unequal tendency, he thinks.
He added: “Some students sit for the admission test with a preparation of about one year while some others get little time just after HSC.”
According to the VC, the second-time admission seekers are either who failed at their first attempt, or, who had already been admitted to other universities.
He also said, “Many seats are left vacant every session in several universities because of this kind of practice of switching institutions.”
Moreover, the DU authorities have relaxed the rules of ‘qualification’ in getting admitted to the English Department as only two were ‘eligible’ for this department this year.
