DHAKA: Police on Sunday detained five admission seekers of Dhaka University in front of DU Teacher-Student Centre (TSC) when they were trying to stage demonstration.
The students brought the demonstration as they failed to pass in the DU admission test in the first time. Recently, the DU authorities announced they would no longer allow students to sit for the university admission test for second time.
The students gathered on Razu Sculpture premises in front of TSC around 9:30am as per their pre-announced protest program.
The DU authorities asked them to leave the area, which they ignored.
Later Shahbagh Thana police picked up five protesters from the spot to the Thana for quizzing.
DU proctor MA Amzad told banglanews that the student did not take permission for the protest and they were not the DU students too.
The university has been opened Sunday, their protest were making troubles to the classes and the exams; for these reasons, they were told to go away from the area, added the proctor.
Shahbagh Thana Officer-in-Charge Sirajul Islam said the admission seekers were creating anarchy in TSC area; they were told to leave the area at first, but they did not do so.
Five of them were brought to the Thana and they would be released upon completion of interrogation, added Sirajul.
