BACK FROM KUALALUMPUR: There is mushroom growth of colleges and universities in Malaysia targeting the Bangladeshi students. TMC College is like that type of institution. This college is in the practice of admitting the Bangladeshi students through their agents alluring them both to part time job and studying. Next after sometime those students are returning to the country as pauper who went there by selling their properties.
In Malaysia, TMC has some fame as an educational institution. The college is running in the rented ground floor located at 85 Menara Uncang Emas of Jalan Loke yew. Now there are two hundred Bangladeshi students are studying there.
The Bangladeshi agents generally like this TMC College for victimizing Bangladeshi students who go there on student visa. The deception to the students is done under the supervision of the college authority.
A Bangladeshi student Russel hailing from Jatrabari of the capital who came here for MBA course after completing his BBA at private Ahsanullah University told banglanews that practically it is like a coaching center.
Being victim of fraud, he, who came here after spending TK 3.50 lakh, is now working in a Pakistani restaurant.
Before coming here, he was given the idea that he would earn TK 50,000 to TK one lakh by doing part time job. But all his hopes dashed to the ground.
Talking to many other students who mostly reside Masjid Jamek area told that actually no studying is held here. One can sign all five days by going only one day in the college.
Shoib, former student of Dhaka’s Residential College, is a student of Hotel Management in TMC College. He told banglanews that the agents of this college get a heavy commission for bringing students from Bangladesh. However, the college authority arranges part time job for them but unfortunately the income has to be deposited with the college fund.
Shoib works in a variety store at BB plaza. He earns Taka 750(30 Ringgit) for working 12 hours. He gets 3 Ringgit for over time. He earns 1000 Ringgits per month.
Ruhul Amin student of TMC told banglanews that police catches the student for part time job and in that case they are to give bribe 100 to 200 Ringgits to the Malaysian police for release. If they are produced in police stations they are to pay 1000 Ringgits.
Ruhul Amin further told that they are to deposit 7500 Ringgits as semester fee at the end of year. If one does not pay semester fee his visa is not recommended for extension.
The students alleged that they have been thrown in a vicious circle. The students, who cannot come out of this circle, finally become a laborer.
Targeting the Bangladeshi students TMC College has opened a regional office here in this country. Sohel Masud, the head of this regional office, stays in Malaysia and one Mohammad Munir is working here as Manager.
TMC College has also regional offices in Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Nepal, India and Afghanistan. But TMC is only successful about targeting and victimizing Bangladeshi students. No students come from any other country.
