CHITTAGONG: The admission test of ‘Gha’ unit under the Social Science Faculty for the first-year honors for academic session 2014-2015 of Chittagong University held on Monday.

Member Secretary of Admission Committee and Deputy Registrar (academic) of the university SM Akbar Hossain told banglanews that the examination was held in a peaceful environment.

A total of 30,861 candidates applied against 877 seats for the social science faculty. Some 36 applicants are fighting for one seat.

Hathazari Thana Officer-in-Charge M Ismail told banglanews that some 15 platoons of law enforcers were deployed in the examination centers to avert any subversive incident.

The members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) and traffic police were also kept alert position.

The examination was held on the university campus and other seven centers at Hathazari and Chittagong city.

The other campuses included Hathazari College, BGC Trust University (city campus), Government Medical College, Omar Gani MES College, Ishpahani Public School and College, Premier University (WASA campus) and Enayet Bazar Women College.

After visiting the centers, CU Vice-Chancellor Professor Anwarul Azim Arif told journalists that the university administration was prepared to prevent any sort of forgeries.

He further said none would be spared if anybody tries to create any untoward situation.

The use of all electronic devices, such as wristwatch, SIM cards, pen with SIM, mobile-phone, memory cards and calculator, was banned during the examination.

CU Pro-VC Professor Dr Iftekhar Uddin Chowdhury, Acting Registrar Engineer M Alamgir Chowdhury, Proctor Siraj-ud-Daula and Additional Police Super (North) M Shahidullah also visited the centers.
