MALAYSIA: A good number of students are leaving Bangladesh for Malaysia every year to take higher study at the different universities here.

Sunway University (SU) is one of the Malaysian private universities to name – a much desired study destination for the Bangladeshi students.

Located around 20 miles away from Malaysia’s capital city of Kuala Lumpur, the SU was awarded a rating of "Excellent" in the national SETARA'09 rating system in 2010.

It was placed in the leading group of Malaysian public and private universities in terms of the quality of its teaching and learning as well as on performance with the foreign branch campuses.

At present, around 200 Bangladeshis along with the students from 90 different countries are studying at this privately-run university. More students are coming each year.

Bangladeshis are among the top three in the list of foreign students. They are also performing better and getting adopted with the local environment, told Ms Ogaslina, senior executive officer of SU International Office.

The official added that they keep the students under observation and take necessary steps when the authorities concerned are noticed on low student attendance.

Most of the Bangladeshi students are studying under graduation and different diploma courses, Ogaslina added.

About the admission, the official told that SU accepts the applications for admission in three ways – directly online application, through agents and walk-in methods.

She, however, told that the university has no agent in individual level and admission seekers can get detailed information on the university’s website. 

If the admission seekers either require more information or any queries they can email to the university admission office, she added.

No campus of any educational institution across Malaysia is equal to SU. A lot of opportunities including shopping mall, residential arrangements, school, college, theme park, and hotels are easily available for SU students.

At the SU, the students will get the degrees more equal to that of the USA and Australia with a comparatively less expense than the developed countries.
