Nat’l women debate festival at JU

SAVAR: A 4-day national women debate competition with the slogan of “Establishing equality with honor” has kicked off at Jahangirnagar University (JU) in Savar Wednesday.

Jahangirnagar University Debate Organization (JUDO) arranged the festival tilted “2nd JUDO National Women's Debate Festival 2014”.

Prior to the inauguration, JUDO held a press conference at the office of JU Journalists’ Association (JUJA) on the campus in the afternoon.

Around 150 female debaters from 32 different public and private universities of the country are participating in the festival, JUDO general secretary Riazul Islam Dipu told banglanews.

The festival features 7th Inter Hall Debate Competition 2014, Inter Club Parliamentary Debate Competition (university level) and public speaking.

The prize giving and closing ceremony will be held on November 29 at Selim Al Deen Muktamancha on the campus.

JU vice-chancellor Professor Farzana Islam is expected to attend the closing ceremony as chief guest while Manushar Jonnon Foundation (MJF) executive director Sahin Alam will join the program as a special guest.

Rights organization MJF is providing assistance in arranging the festival and country’s leading online news portal banglanews24.com is working as media partner.
