RAJSHAHI UNIVERSITY: Rajshahi University’s Associate Professor of Theater and Music Department Krisnapada Mandal was barred for ten years from his duty of taking classes and invigilating examinations or involving in any administrative task.
Moreover, he will not get any promotion in this tenure.
Mandal was charged for using his colleague’s research works in his own name.
The university syndicate took the decision on Saturday night in a syndicate meeting, chaired by the university’s vice-chancellor Muhammad Mizanuddin.
The allegation brought against Mandal was proved in the meeting.
Registrar of the university Professor Entajul Haque told banglanews that an allegation was brought against Krisnapada Mandal by another teacher of his department Dr Asit Roy for copying and using his research.
Thereafter, an investigation committee was formed against Krisnapad Mandal in this regard and he was found guilty, he added.
So, the university authority took the decision against him, the registrar said.
The accused teacher Krisnapad Mandal said “I have no idea about the given penalty.”
The administration must have taken the right decision, he added.
Dr Asit Roy said that Krisnapad Mandal had written and published a book about music where he copied my research works without any permission or reference. I informed the matter to the university authority, he added.
On the other hand, the university’s accounting and information systems department lecturer Mamun Hossain was suspended temporarily.
The university syndicate took the decision as he has lost the examination papers of the students. An investigation committee was formed to look into the matter.
Another professor of the same department also received a show-cause on allegation of money embezzlement in the name of recruiting people.
