DHAKA: Independent University, Bangladesh (IUB) will host the 16th convocation on its Bashundhara campus on December 18.
Education minister Nurul Islam Nahid will confer degrees on 1,163 graduating students on behalf of the Honourable President of the Peoples Republic of Bangladesh and Chancellor of IUB Md. Abdul Hamid.
Vice-Chancellor of IUB Professor Dr. M Omar Rahman and the founder President of IUB, Dr. A Majeed Khan will speak on the occasion. Dr. Khan will be the convocation speaker.
Chairman of the IUB Board of Trustees Rashed Chowdhury and Chairman of the ESTCDT, the founding trust of IUB, Saifur Rahman will also speak on the occasion.
All distinguished faculty members of various schools, 434 graduates, and 729 under graduates, guardians of the graduating students and journalists of different media organisations will be present.
Maeesa Ayesha, a student of the Department of English will be awarded the honour of ‘Valedictorian’ this year.
Five graduates will receive the ‘Chancellor’s Gold Medal’. 83 IUBians will receive special accolades for their academic achievements.
On behalf of the IUB Alumni Association five students will receive special awards for their excellent performance in various fields.
Shabhanaz Rashid Diya and Marufa Mahanaz Chetona from the Department of Media and Communication and S.K. Hashmi Rafsanjani from the Department of Finance have been nominated for the IUB Alumni Association award.
