DHAKA: The 49th convocation of Dhaka University (DU) will be held on January 13 where a total of 6,104 former students will receive their respective degrees.
DU Vice-chancellor (VC) Professor AAMS Arefin Siddique made the assertion while addressing a press conference in VC lounge of the university on Sunday afternoon.
Among the ex-students, some 42 will get PhD degree, 20 MPhil degree, 29 gold medal, 49 MD and MS, 3,160 Honors degree, 565 Masters degree, 1,625 MBBS degree, 319 BDS degree, 186 Nursing and Physiotherapy and 109 will get degree in Homeopathy and Ayurvedic.
President Abdul Hamid, also the chancellor of the university, will chair the convocation while Dr Francis Gurry, director general of UN specialized agency World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), will attend the function as the convocation speaker.
Moreover, the WIOP DG will be honored with the Doctor of Laws at the convocation.
