DHAKA: Teachers of vocational institutions on Wednesday submitted a memorandum to BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia demanding to keep country’s educational activities and examinations out of purview of the hartal, blockade and other political programs.
A five-member team of Bangladesh Non-government Vocational Teachers’ Association led-by its president Principal Shajahan Alam Saju came to Khaleda’s Gulshan political office around 11:45am.
Faruque Ahmed, a member of Khaleda's personal security force CSF (chairperson's security force) received the memorandum from the teachers.
After handing over the memo, Shajahan told journalists that the memorandum was submitted in protest of killing teachers, students and common people, torching examination centers and book-laden vehicles.
They also demanded to keep educational activities out of hartal-blockade purview, he added.
The principal went on saying Khaleda sent her granddaughters to Malaysia to appear their examinations. So, now she (Khaleda) will make sure the congenial atmosphere for examinations of the country’s students, he added.
Shajahan also urged Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to prevent killing people in firebombing.
Earlier, teachers marched for besieging Khaleda Zia’s office protesting nationwide hartal, enforced by BNP-led 20-party alliance amid Secondary School Certificate (SSC) examinations.
However, they did not succeed due to police’s obstructions.
