5 JU students suspended

JU: Jahangirnagar University (JU) authorities suspended five students for assaulting Assistant Proctor.

The decision was taken in the syndicate meeting on Wednesday night.

Suspended students are—Foysal Rabbi Riyad, Anik Shuvon Bala Sonet, Aminur Rahman Taki, Arif Ahmed Mafi and Md Sumon. They all were students of 41st batch of Marketing Department.

On Wednesday, the aforesaid students assaulted assistant proctor Md Julkarnain when he went there to detain Riyad, a Chhatra Dal activist, for blasting cocktail in front of VC residence.

Later, varsity administration handed over Riyad and Sonet to police.

Apart from suspending the students, a 5-member probe body has been formed and asked to submit a report within seven working days.
