DHAKA: The High Court (HC) Monday issued a rule asking authorities concerned to explain why the decision not to allow students second time to sit for Dhaka University (DU) admission tests should not be declared illegal.
An HC bench comprising Justice Farah Mahbub and Justice M Ijarul Haq Akanda passed the order following a writ of 26 guardians.
The court also ordered to explain why order should not be given to take a new decision changing the existing one.
DU Vice Chancellor, Registrar, admission committee convener, examination controller, secretary of exam committee, Assistant Registrar (Academic-2), UGC chairman and Education secretary were made respondents to the rule and asked to reply within two weeks.
On October 15, 2014, DU authorities took decision not to give second chance to admission aspirants. The decision sparked protest among admission seekers countrywide.
