DHAKA UNIVERSITY: A three-day long international conference on gender issues has been going on at Nabab Nawab Ali Chowdhury Senate Bhaban of the university since Friday.
Department of Women and Gender Studies (DWGS) of the university arranged the event titled “International Conference on Gender, Diversity and Development (ICGDD)”.
Dhaka University (DU) vice chancellor Professor Dr AAMS Arefin Siddique inaugurated the conference as the chief guest with DWGS chairman Tania Haque in the chair.
DU Professor Emeritus Dr Najma Chowdhury, Deputy Representative of Unicef Dr Anjana Mangalagiri and director of USAID Bangladesh Thomas Kress addressed the function as special guests.
Arefin Siddique said that investment on woman education needs to increase in order to create skilled female human recourses.
He also urged all to work together for establishing gender equality and ensuring women empowerment.
Around 500 people from Bangladesh, United States, United Kingdom, Netherlands, India, and Pakistan have attended the conference, which will end on Sunday.
