DHAKA: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Wednesday inaugurated the campus of the nursing college of Sheikh Fazilatunnesa Mujib Memorial KPJ Specialized Hospital and Nursing College in Tetuibari in Kashimpur of Gazipur district.
At the inaugural ceremony, the premier recalled the tragic killing of her family members on August 15 in 1975 while upholding the contribution of the father of the nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and Sheikh Fazilatunnessa Mujib.
However, the Malaysia premier Mohammad Najib bin Tun Haji Abdul Razak and Bangladesh PM Sheikh Hasina and her sister Sheikh Rehana jointly inaugurated the hospital on November 18 in 2013.
Malaysia healthcare service provider KPJ is supervising the overall management of the hospital through a public-private partnership system.
The premier further said that they have established a nursing college with the hospital as the country lacks nurse comparing with the number of patients.
She hoped that nurses with higher education will come out from the college to serve in the specialized hospitals both at home and abroad.
According to the PM, she along with her sister established Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Memorial Trust in 1994 to provide assistance to the poor people as their father and also father of the nation Sheikh Mujibur Rahman worked for the development of people.
The trust has been providing stipends to about 1,700 poor and physically-challenged students. Moreover, it has also been maintaining the medical expenditures of the 21 August grenade attack victims.
