DHAKA: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina declared that her government will set up public or private university in every district and government high school in every upazila.
The ruling Awami League (AL) president made this declaration while addressing a two-day 28th national council of AL’s student wing Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) at Suhrawardy Udyan in city Saturday afternoon.
Putting importance on study, the Prime Minister in her speech said education, peace and progress are the principles of BCL.
No policy could be better than that, she commented.
Highlighting her government’s different development programs, she announced that a public or private university will be set up in every district in the country to expand education.
In addition, she announced the establishment of at least one government secondary school in every upazila.
In her introductory speech, the premier also highlighted the struggling history of BCL.
The Prime Minister said during the Pakistani military regime when politics was banned in the country, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman utilized BCL in creating awareness among the nation and inspiring them to struggle for independence.
Thousands of leaders and activists thronged the venue from all over the country to join the council, began at 11:15am.
Party sources said a new committee for BCL will be formed through the council.
