Medical admission seekers withdraw blockade

DHAKA: Agitating medical admission seekers have withdrawn their blockade in city’s Shahbagh intersection and announced fresh programs.

The students are demanding the cancellation of medical college test due to the allegation of question paper leak and punishment of the attackers on them.

They will stage sit-in program on Central Shahid Minar premises and called on the intern physicians to announce work abstention.

The announcement was made at a press conference at Shahbagh on Sunday afternoon.

Moreover, a group of progressive students expressed their solidarity to the ongoing student movement.

On behalf of the agitating students, Asif Bin Taqi and on behalf students organizations Socialist Student Front general secretary Imran Habib Romon made the announcement.

‘We have withdrawn the blockade program from Shahbagh considering the hassles of the commuters,’ Asif said.

The fresh program will begin at 9:00pm on Monday on Central Shahid Minar premises, he added.

He also called on the intern physicians to observe one-hour work abstention across the country.

On the other hand, the two student organizations announced that they will arrange demonstration at educational institutions across the country on October 5 and a touch rally on Dhaka University campus on October 6.

A shut-down will be observed on October 7, if their demands are not met by this time, they added.
