BARISAL: Sher-e-bangla Medical College of Barisal will not be closed.

College principal Dr Bhaskar Saha confirmed the matter to banglanews around 4:30pm.

He further said he talked to the leaders of both factions of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) who ensured him about staying in the college peacefully.

Earlier in the day, the authority decided to close down the college for an indefinite period following a clash between two groups of BCL centering formation of its college unit committee.

The decision was taken from a meeting of the academic council around 3:30pm.
