DHAKA: Amid festivity, the government has distributed a total of 333,762,772-crore textbooks among around 44,416,728-crore students from class-I to class-IX across the country on Friday (January 1).
Education minister Nurul Islam Nahid inaugurated Textbook Festival Day 2016’ at Government Laboratory School this morning through distributing new sets of books among students from class VI to IX.
After releasing colorful balloons and pigeon at Mirpur National Bangla Government Primary School, Primary and Mass education Minister Mostafizur Rahman here distributed textbooks among primary and Ebtedayee students.
Though Friday (January 1) is holiday, books of different classes are being distributed to the students keeping schools, madrasas and vocational institutions across the country open.
Earlier on Thursday, the prime minister, Sheikh Hasina, inaugurated the Textbook Festival 2016 at her government residence, Ganabhaban.
She handed over a set of books each to three students of primary, three students of Ebtedayee, three students of secondary school and three others of Dakhil-level
Earlier, the Education minister and the primary & mass education minister handed over two sets of new book to the premier.
The government has printed around 333,762,772-crore copies of textbooks to distribute those among 4.41-crore students of primary and secondary schools, and Ebtedayee and Dakhil madrasas and technical institutions.
However, the government has been celebrating ‘book festival’ on January 1 for several years.
