DHAKA: Education ministry on Sunday (January 17) asked the authorities concerned not to collect extra fees from the students in private educational institutions.
The directive has been issued in a context of allegation that some institutions across the country are taking additional fees from the students.
In the order, signed by ministry additional secretary Chowdhury Mufad Ahmed, it was stated that taking extra fees without government’s guideline created adverse reaction among students and guardians.
According to the Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board Act 2009, respective educational institutions’ governing body or managing committee will decide monthly and others fees following the government instructions.
The government will give necessary instruction soon and until this no institutions will collect extra money, the directive added.
However, students and guardians of city’s Viqarunnisa Noon School, Motijhel Ideal School and Wills Little School were protesting the additional fees.
All divisional commissioners, education board officers, district education officers, school principals and others concerned are asked to take necessary actions in this regard.
