DHAKA: Microsoft Bangladesh Ltd. will provide software on a nominal prize to use in a sum of 50,000 computers in the multimedia class rooms at government primary schools.
Public Relations officer (PRO) of Primary and Mass Education ministry Rabindranath Roy asserted that Microsoft would provide Windows Operating system and MS Office software with the rate of 3-4 US Dollars.
Previously, the prices of this software ranged from 120-150 USD. This cost effectiveness will help to buy more laptops for schools, hopes the ministry.
Earlier on Sunday (January 17), Joint-secretary of the Primary and Mass Education Ministry Faizul Kabir and Managing Director of Microsoft Bangladesh Ltd Sonia Bashir signed an agreement on this issue.
Secretary of Primary and Mass Education Ministry Humayun Khalid, among other officials, were present at the signing ceremony.
Programmer of Primary and Mass Education Ministry Sirajul Islam informed that they have a project to provide laptops and projectors to 62,000 primary schools by 2017.
A total of 5,000 laptops and projectors have already been distributed and another 5000 en route to distribute.
