DHAKA: Retired teachers of registered primary schools staged a rally and formed human chain to press home their 7-point demands, including monthly pension.
Association of the retired teachers of registered non-government primary schools arranged the programs in front of National Press Club in city on Sunday (14 February).
A human chain, led by the association president Mohammad Riaz Uddin, was followed by the rally.
The speakers said that they are leading a miserable life after retirement, as they do not receive any facility from the government. They also urged attention from the government in this regard.
The seven point demands include – monthly pension, Leave Preparatory to Retirement (LPR), introducing quota for dependents, financial help, payment of arrears and payment from welfare fund during service.
Moreover, the association members are scheduled to hand over a memorandum to the Prime Minister after the rally and the human chain.
Association secretary general Mohammad Altaf Hossain was also present among attendees of the rally.
