DHAKA: Education minister Nurul Islam Nahid said the government will distribute books in five ethnic languages, including Chakma and Marma, among students of primary level in 2017 educational session.
He made the disclosure in a view exchange meeting at National Curriculum and Textbook Board (NCTB) auditorium in city on Tuesday (May 24).
Moreover, the government will distribute around 36.03-crore books at free of cost among the primary and secondary level students in 2017, he added.
The minister further said government has taken decision to provide primary education in mother tongues.
“Besides, the government will distribute Braille books, supplementary books for primary and secondary school teachers,” Nahid stated.
NCTB chairman Narayan Chandra Saha presided over the event.
NCTB member (text books) Professor Dr. Mia Enamul Haque Siddique, education secretary Sohrab Hossain and additional secretary Dr Molla Jalal Uddin also addressed the program.
