DHAKA: University Grants Commission (UGC) allotted Tk 3,390.69 crore for country’s public universities in 2016-17 fiscal year.

The budget has been approved in 144th full commission meeting led by UGC chairman professor Abdul Mannan on Thursday (June 9).

A total of Tk 35.05 crore has been allotted for the expenditure of UGC in the current fiscal year.

Planning commission member (Socio-economic structure) Abdul Mannan, UGC member Dr Mohammad Yusuf Ali Molla, Dr Dilafroz Begum, among others, were present.

Moreover, Dhaka University (DU) VC prof Dr AAMS Arefin Siddique, Bangladesh Agriculture University (DAU) VC Dr M Ali Akbar, Dhaka University of Engineering and Technology (DUET) VC Mohammad Alauddin, education minister additional secretary Helal Uddin were also present.
