DHAKA: North South University pro-VC among three were detained for renting a flat to Gulshan attackers and concealing tenants’ information.
The arrestees are Professor Gias Uddin Ahsan, dean of School of Health and Life Sciences and owner of the house, his nephew Alam Chowdhury, and building manager Mahbubur Rahman Tuhin.
A team of the DMP counterterrorism unit nabbed them from their residence around 5:00pm Saturday (July 16).
A DMP press release said, Gias Uddin as acting pro-vice chancellor of NSU, said he did not submit tenants' information to the respective police station.
“Probe has found that the militants gathered at his flat. The associates of the militants rented the flat in May. Following the Gulshan attack, the associates fled the flat,” the release added.
A carton loaded with sand and dresses left behind by the militants were also seized from the flat, said DMP spokeman Masudur Rahman.
