DHAKA: Jagannath University (JnU) students are continuing their strike to press the demand of dormitories and permanent lease of the empty space of old Dhaka Central Jail on Nazimuddin Road in city.
As part of the two-day protest program, the students are staying on their campus on Wednesday (August 24).
They brought out a procession on the campus in the morning and later locked the gates of the faculties causing the cancellation of examinations and classes.
Moreover, the procession headed to National Press Club avoiding police barricade at Bahadur Shah Park.
Police have barred plying transport from Rai Saheb Bazar to the university, which has no hall for students since after 11 years of its establishment.
Earlier in 2009, 2011 and 2014, the students organized tougher movements but it did not bring any effective results for them.
However, students claimed that the administration takes some steps during their movement but later it stops.
