DHAKA: Education minister Nurul Islam Nahid said that necessary steps have been taken in solving hall crisis of Jagannath University (JnU) students.
He made the assertion at an emergency meeting of the ministry at secretariat in city amid the ongoing movement of the JnU students on Wednesday (August 24).
A press release sent from the education ministry said that the emergency meeting was held on the backdrop of the ongoing movement of JnU students to press the demands of building student dormitories and permanent lease of the empty space of old Dhaka Central Jail.
The release further said that the minister expressed his sympathy to the students and said that necessary measures have been taken to solve their crisis of dormitories.
He also sought assistance from all, including students, teachers and guardians.
The minister also discussed with the JnU vice chancellor about the crisis.
The details will be disclosed later in a press conference, the release added.
Education secretary Mohammad Sohrab Hossain and additional secretary AS Mahmud, among others, attended the meeting.
