DHAKA: The students of Jagannath University (JnU) in city resumed their strike on Thursday (September 1) demanding dormitory after a one-day break on Wednesday.
This phase of the strike will continue till September 4, said a spokesperson of a faction of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) that has taken part in the strike.
The strike was called off for Wednesday fearing sabotage as Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami observed hartal on the day.
Meanwhile, the varsity administration has announced dates of classes and examinations in some departments from Thursday.
But, the JnU BCL general secretary Sirajul Islam told banglanews that each and every academic activity will be prevented.
Earlier, the students organized tougher movements in 2009, 2011 and 2014 but those did not bring any results for them.
Even after 11 years of establishment, JnU has remained country’s only public university without any dormitory for students.
