DHAKA UNIVERSITY: A two-day international conference on climate change will kick-off at Nowab Nawab Ali Chowdhury Senate Bhaban of Dhaka University (DU) on Saturday (October 22).
DU anthropology department issued a press release in this regards on Friday (October 21).
As many as 400 teachers, researchers, development workers and students will attend the conference titled “Anthropology, Adaptation and Resilience in Climate Change Regime” from home and abroad.
Anthropology department chairperson professor Hasan A. Shafi will preside over the conference and Prime Minister’s international affairs adviser Dr. Gowher Rizvi will attend as chief guest.
DU pro vice-chancellor professor Nasreen Ahmed, UNDP country director Nick Beresford and Bangladesh Climate Change Trust (BCCT) managing director Dr. Engineer Jnan Ranjan Sil will also attend the conference.
Executive director of Bangladesh Centre for Advance Studies and also prominent environmentalist and development specialist Dr. Atiq Rahman will present keynote paper at the event.
Conference convener and also DU anthropology department professor Dr. Zahidul Islam will deliver welcome speech.
