JAHANGIRNAGAR UNIVERSITY (JU): Jahangirnagar University (JU) zoology department will organize a daylong butterfly fair on Friday (November 4) for the seven consecutive years.

Fair convener Professor Dr. Monowar Hossain in a press briefing on Wednesday evening (November 2) said that the fair will be organized to increase public awareness about butterfly conservation.

JU vice-chancellor Professor Farzana Islam will inaugurate the fair at a ceremony in front of Zahir Raihan Auditorium on the campus.

The fair will remain open from 9:00am to 4:00pm.

The fair will include procession, drawing competition on butterfly for children, photographic exhibition on butterfly, photographic competition on butterfly, live exhibition of butterfly, butterfly-shaped kite flying, debate on butterfly and climate change, butterfly casting competition, screening documentary on butterfly and prize giving ceremony.

For overall contribution to conserving biodiversity, Prokriti and Jibon Foundation will be given a butterfly award at the ceremony.

JU zoology department’s student Sabbir Hossain Khokon will also be given a Young Butterfly Enthusiastic Award.
