17 held over JU admission test fraud

JAHANGIRNAGAR UNIVERSITY (JU): Jahangirnagar University (JU) authority has detained 17 examinees for allegations of forgery during the ‘D-unit’ (Faculty of Biology) honors first year admission test for 2016-17 sessions on Sunday (November 20).

JU authority released 12 students upon bonds and other five were handed over to Ashulia Thana police.

They detainees are Soyeb Alam Chowdhury from Mirpur in Dhaka, Morshed Alam Zaman and Mahbubur Rahman from sadar upazila in Bhola, Monirul Islam from Pirganj upazila in Dinajpur and Ashik Kabir from Pabna. 

Sources concerned said, acting on tip-off, university security conducted the drive and detained the forgers from different test centers. 

Confirming the matter Proctor Prof. Tapan Kumar Shaha said 12 examinees were released as no evidence found and other five were handed over to police with evidence of counterfeit.
