DHAKA: Independent University, Bangladesh (IUB) organized its Spring 2017 Semester’s orientation program for newly admitted undergraduate students at its campus in Bashundhara, Dhaka Saturday (January 14).
Welcoming the newly enrolled students and the parents, vice chancellor Prof. M Omar Rahman thanked them for choosing IUB towards changing and shaping their future by coping with new challenges.
He called upon the freshers to capitalize ‘IUB Life’ in order to coming out as the best professionals in respective fields along with becoming responsible and quality human beings to serve the humanity.
Prof Rahman also described IUB’s strengths in global partnerships and research opportunities and urged upon all students to set priorities, facing challenges, having persistent attitude and working hard in order to clinch desired success in life.
Highlighting the academic rules and regulations of the University, IUB Registrar Brig. Gen. (retd) Md Anwarul Islam asked the students to follow them and assured of extending all essential cooperation to the new students and their parents.
Prof Sarwar Uddin Ahmed, Dean, School of Business; Prof Shahriar Khan, Dean, School of Engineering and Computer Science; Dr Abdul Khaleque, Dean, School of Environmental Science and Management; Dr Mahbub Alam, Dean, School of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences; and Dr. Mahbub Morshed on behalf the School of Life Sciences also spoke in the program by highlighting the strengths, opportunities and progressive learning environments of respective Schools.
The event was conducted by Lima Choudhury, Deputy Director, Undergraduate Admissions and Financial Aid Office of IUB.
Later, the newly enrolled students were oriented by the Registrar, different Schools, Departments, Laboratories, Library and other Divisions of IUB.
They visited all these Schools and Departments so as to acquiring the basic information about the university and its teaching methodologies.
Apart from the students, parents, guardians, members of the faculty and management of IUB were present during the daylong orientation program.
