DHAKA: Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Wednesday (March 1) gave stipend 1.30-crore primary school students through Mobile Banking.
The government stipends for primary students would be disbursed into their mothers’ mobile banking accounts.
The premier gave the money while inaugurating Disbursement of Primary Education Stipend using Mobile Banking from her Gonobhaban residence in the morning.
She inaugurated the project titled “Mayer Hasi” through video conferencing with concerned Deputy Commissioners of the districts, Upazila Nirbahi Officers, and power sector officials.
In her speech, Hasina called individuals concerned to educate children with the spirit of patriotism and liberation war.
She also asked parents to take care their children so that they do not go astray.
The premier further said people from villages also have started getting benefits of Digital Bangladesh.
Primary and mass education minister Mustafizur Rahman also spoke on the occasion conducted by principal secretary to PMO Dr. Kamal Abdul Naser Chowdhury.
Later, the premier talked to the beneficiaries of the project, school teachers, guardians of Tungipara upazila of Gopalgonj, Pirganj of Rangpur and Parbatipur of Dinajpur districts.
