DHAKA: The BNP wants of spending minimum five per cent of GDP in education sector for building an educated and developed nation.
Speakers at a seminar organized by the BNP on Saturday (May 13) said that the neighboring countries spend five per sent in the education sector, while Bangladesh allocates two per cent in the sector. The BNP has to allocate five per cent in the education sector in future, they said.
BNP arranged the daylong seminar on “Education System of Bangladesh and Our future” at Ladies Club in the city.
Former vice chancellor of Dhaka University Prof Dr Emajuddin Ahmed addressed the inaugural session as the chief guest. Former President and Bikalpa Dhara Bangladesh chief Prof Dr AQM Badruddoza Chowdhury was expected to join the inaugural session as chief guest, but he could attend because of illness.
The seminar will end in the evening. BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia is scheduled to attend the concluding session as chief guest, while the party’s secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir will chair the session.
Several articles will be presented in the seminar by the noted educationists.
Dr Mohammad Sirajul Islam and Shah Shamim Ahmed of Education and Research Institute of Dhaka University presented article on primary and secondary education in the inaugural session.
