DHAKA: Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has decided to deduct marks of examinees in their medical and dental admission tests for the second time.

The decision was made in a meeting led by Health Minister Mohammed Nasim   regarding admission in the MBBS and BDS courses for 2017-18 sessions at the secretariat on Sunday (June 4).

As per the decision, examinees who will take the Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) and Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) admission tests a year after passing HSC for the second time will be fined five marks out of the their total marks and 7.5 marks will be fined to students who were admitted in government colleges in previous year.

The Health Ministry said the new rule will be applicable in 2017-18 academic year. The 50 per cent quota for the foreign students seeking admission in private medical colleges will remain the intact. However, the BDS course will be expanded to five-year time period.
