JnU teacher sacked for sexually harassing students

JAGANNATH UNIVERSITY: Jagannath University authoruty sacked a teacher of mass communication and journalism department Mir Mosharef Hossain alias Razib Mir over sexually harassing several female students.

The decision was made in the university's 74th syndicate meeting on Sunday (July 9) after three investigation committees found him guilty.

JnU Vice-Chancellor Mizanur Rahman told Banglanews that the allegations against Razib Mir were proven by the probe committee and he has been sacked permanently.

Earlier on April 5 last year, university authority withdrawn Razib from all activities of the department and postgraduate classes based on recommendation given by one of the three investigation committees. The committee was formed when one student filed some complaints. Razib was suspended then.

Later several female students from mass communication department came forward with similar allegations against Razib and more probe committees were formed.

The second committee held public hearing in the presence of the complainants in November last year and later declared Razib guilty in its report.
