DHAKA: Public Service Commission (PSC) of Bangladesh backed down from their earlier decision and said applicants need not submit National Identity Card (NID) to sit for upcoming 38th BCS examinations.
The new instructions said that the applicants can apply all the exams under PSC by enclosing alternative necessary papers, in case of unavailability of the NID card.
In that case, the applicant must show why s/he wasn’t given the NID yet.
PSC came up with the shift on Tuesday morning (July 11), the second day of BCS application procedure that launched on Monday (July 10).
Regarding their new move, PSC Chairman Dr Mohammad Sadiq told Banglanews, “NID is a compulsory document. But the applicants, who don’t have it right now and are in on process, must to provide NID when the commission will ask afterwards.”
“They (the applicants) will get enough time till their viva voce (of BCS). I expect that they could avail the NIDs by the time”, he added.
Earlier, PSC publishes a notice instructing NID number a compulsory while applying for BCS in online.
The notice hammered a major fear among the BCS aspirants as a large number of 1 crore 18 lakh voters still aren’t provided the NID cards since 2012.
However, PSC changed their decision following a report published in Banglanews24.com on Monday (July 10).
BCS application forms could be filled at http//bpsc.teletalk.com.bd and www.bpsc.gov.bd with paying the required fees till August 10.
