CHITTAGONG UNIVERSITY: Leaders and activists of a faction of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL), the student wing of the ruling party, created a tumultuous situation at University of Chittagong (CU) demanding removal of a teacher Tuesday (November 7).
They vandalized the registrar office and some three-four vehicles.
Besides, the campus was blocked since the noon.
Witnesses say that the BCL men assembled and brought out a procession.
They were chanting slogans demanding removal of Muhammad Amir Uddin, a faculty at Institute of Education & Research (IER)-CU.
At one stage, they went to the second and third floors of the administrative building and carried out vandalism at the registrar office.
Later, some three-four vehicles were smashed at the road and the main entrance was locked.
Alamgir Tipu, president of the stayed BCL committee, said: “Blockade programs will be continued until removal of the teacher.”
Mizanur Rahman Bipul, another leader of the AL student front, said: “We are waging this movement seeking dismissal of the teacher.”
He denied vandalizing the registrar office and the vehicles.
CU Assistant Proctor Niaz Morshed told Banglanews: “Vandalism was carried out to some extent at the registrar office. They, moreover, damaged some three-four vehicles. We will look into matter.”
