DHAKA: The University of Development Alternative (UODA) has organized an admission fair for the honors and masters programmes in different disciplines.
The six-day fair began on Tuesday (December 26) and it will continue till December 31 this year, says a press release sent from the university.
The admission fair will remain open from 9.00 am to 5.00 pm at UODA Registrar Office (80, Satmasjid Road, Dhanmondi, Dhaka) and UODA CSE Department (3/C Satmasjid Road, Dhanmondi). The admission fair will also remain open on holiday.
On the occasion, the university authorities arranged a press conference at the campus at Dhanmondi in the capital city on Tuesday.
Founder and president of the university Prof Mujib Khan spoke at the press conference, while UODA Pro-Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Ahmedullah Mia and its Registrar Prof Dr Iffat Chowdhury were also present, among others.
Prof Mujib Khan said that the UODA does not have any commercial tendency with the education from the beginning though many private universities are doing business in the name of education. “We do run our institution on the basis of non-profit policy as we think education is not a commercial matter, it is a right for every citizen of the country,” he said.
He announced to find out brilliant and poor students to provide educational service for them.
Prof Mujib Khan said that the UODA has arranged the admission fair only to provide a scope to poor, underprivileged and bright students so that they can get higher education.
He assured that the university will set educational cost for underprivileged students after discussing with their parents and their ability.
“UODA authorities will consider economical condition of students' families, educational background to fix the educational costs so that every bright student can get higher education,” he said.
He also promised to provide scope of education and residential facilities without any cost for those who are invincible meritorious but poor.
