DHAKA: The pass rate and the number of GPA-5 in the examinations of Junior School Certificate (JSC) and Junior Dakhil Certificate (JDC) for 2017 dropped than previous years.
The pass rate for the JSC examinations is 83.65 percent, which was 93.06 percent in 2016. The pass rate dipped 9.41 percentage points from the last year.
The pass rate in the JDC examinations is 86.80 percent, which was 94.02 percent last year.
A total of 1, 84,397 candidates achieved GPA-5 in JSC exams this year, which were 2, 81,898 in 2016. On the other hand, at total of 7,231 students from JDC secured GPA-5.
Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid handed over the copy of the results to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina at Ganabhaban at around 12:00 am on Saturday (December 30).
Later, the education minister announced the results formally at a press conference at Bangladesh Secretariat.
The results will be available at: www.educationboardresults.gov.bd and the websites of the respective education boards.
The JSC and the JDC examinations were held between November 1 and 18. A total of 24, 68,820 students appeared in this year's examinations. Of them, 11, 44,778 are male and 13, 24,042 are female.
