DHAKA: The government has directed law enforcers to arrest anyone carrying a mobile phone within 200 meters of the SSC examinations centers.
The Secondary and Higher Education Division of the Education Ministry issued the directives on Monday (February 12).
The instruction was sent to Director General of Secondary and Higher Education Division, all divisional commissioners, Edication Board Chairmen and District Commissioners of the country.
According to the directives, all examinees must enter test centers 30 minutes prior to the examination starts. If anyone found carrying cell phones inside and 200 meters outside of the centers will be arrested immediately and will face legal action.
The government is facing tremendous pressure and backlash for not being able to prevent SSC question paper leaks in social media. The ministry has held several urgent meetings over the matter.
Earlier on Sunday, a decision was made to slow down internet connection with an aim to prevent question leaks; however, the decision was withdrawn on Monday (February 12).
Police have already conducted several raids in the pat few days and detained many people allegedly involved in the leaking. Law enforcers also identified some 300 cell phone numbers involved in the scam and taking action.
